Zesty Lime Infusion Poke Cake

Ingredients:

1 box white cake mix (and ingredients called for on the box, usually water, oil, and eggs)
1 package (3 oz) lime gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
Lime slices and zest for garnish
Directions:

Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour into the prepared pan and bake as directed. Remove from oven and let cool for 15 minutes.
While the cake is still warm, use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the top of the cake.
In a medium bowl, dissolve the lime gelatin in boiling water. Stir in cold water and then slowly pour over the cake, making sure to fill the holes.
Refrigerate the cake for at least 3 hours.
Spread the whipped topping over the chilled cake. Garnish with lime slices and zest before serving.
